The Vizhinjam International Seaport in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is India’s first deep water container transshipment port, currently under construction. Located 16 km from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport and 10 nautical miles from a major east-west shipping channel, it is the country’s first automated port and the only one adjacent to an international shipping route. The port boasts a natural depth of 20 meters, the deepest breakwater in India, and unparalleled access to other Indian ports. The breakwater is 3 km long, extending to 4.5 km in the final phase.
