Pamban bridge, Vertical lift, a ₹279.63 crore project, connecting Rameshwaram to Tamil Nadu, a south Indian state, is expected to be completed by March 2023.  Total length of the bridge is 2.078 km. Once completed, it will feature as India’s first state-of-the-art vertical lift railway sea bridge. The bridge, being executed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), will allow trains to travel faster, carry more weight and increase traffic volume. Fabrication of Vertical Lift Span girders, according to media, is nearing completion.
